Three straight wins have put Arvada West in a strong position as the Colorado girls high school volleyball season moves forward.

The Wildcats’ latest came on October 20, when they defeated Ralston Valley in four sets on the Mustangs’ home court.

It was more than another mark in the win column: Arvada West handed its opponent a home loss after four consecutive victories there.

Scarlett Wilhelm led the Wildcats with 19 kills, giving the attack a reliable option throughout the 3-1 win.

Evelyn BearComesOut added 17 assists, while Mya Lee supplied three aces from the service line.

That balance has become a compelling part of Arvada girls volleyball this fall.

Before visiting Ralston Valley, the Wildcats had beaten LHS in straight sets and won a four-set match at CHS.

The run left Arvada West at 15-3 following the October 20 match, with seven victories in its previous eight road contests.

For anyone following girls volleyball rankings, that stretch offers a reason to keep an eye on the Wildcats, though a specific ranking was not available for this recap.

Ralston Valley did not make the night easy.

Reese Barry finished with 11 kills and 10 digs, and Harper Thompson contributed 17 assists, eight digs and four aces.

The loss stung for a Mustangs team that had been difficult to beat at home.

Ralston Valley stood at 9-8 after the match, a reminder that one result can change the feel of a season without defining it.

For Arvada West, the question now is whether this road-tested form will carry into its remaining matches.

Fans planning to watch should confirm the Wildcats’ next match time and gym location with the school’s athletic department.

They can also ask whether a live stream is available, since no broadcast details were confirmed for this recap.
